When you need one
A crown covers and strengthens a tooth that is too damaged for a filling alone. We commonly recommend crowns for teeth with large areas of decay, weakened enamel, or cracks. Crowns are also placed after root canal therapy and on top of dental implants. Your crown is shaped and shaded to blend in with your natural teeth, so you can smile and chew with confidence.
One visit, done
Traditional crowns usually take two appointments, with a temporary crown in between while a lab makes the final one. CEREC changes that. We take a digital scan of your tooth, design your crown on the computer, and mill it right here in our office. We check the fit and bond it in place, all in a single appointment.
Dental bridges
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a replacement tooth to the teeth on either side of the gap. Bridges can also restore teeth affected by decay or cracks. They are designed to look and feel like natural teeth, so you can eat and smile comfortably. With CEREC, many bridges can also be completed in one appointment.
Caring for crowns
Crowns and bridges need the same care as natural teeth. Brush twice a day and floss daily, including under the replacement tooth of a bridge where food can collect. If you grind your teeth, a custom night guard helps protect your crown from extra wear. Regular cleanings and exams let us check that everything is holding up well.

It is longer than a typical visit because everything happens at once, but it saves you a second appointment. We will give you a time estimate when you schedule.
We numb the tooth before we begin, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Some mild sensitivity afterward is normal.
With good care, a crown can last many years. Brushing, flossing, regular checkups, and wearing a night guard if you grind all help it last.
