Veneers

in Groveport, OH.

If chips, gaps, stains, or uneven teeth keep you from smiling freely, cosmetic dentistry can help. At Sedalia Dental we offer veneers that look natural and last, and tooth bonding, a conservative way to make smaller changes. We will help you choose the right treatment for the smile you want, right here in Groveport.

Veneers or bonding

Veneers are thin, custom made shells that bond to the front of your teeth. They change the color, shape, size, and length of a tooth, and they are the choice when you want a lasting change across several teeth at once. Tooth bonding uses a tooth colored material that we apply, shape, and harden right on the tooth. It is the more conservative option, usually with little or no change to the natural tooth underneath, and many bonding treatments are finished in a single visit.

What each one fixes

Bonding is often ideal for a chipped tooth, a small gap, a rough or uneven edge, or a single small stain. Veneers cover several of those concerns at once across your smile. They also help when staining does not respond to whitening, or when teeth are worn, misshapen, or slightly crooked. If you are not sure which of those describes your smile, that is exactly what a consult is for.

Which one is right?

Bonding is quicker and costs less up front, though it can stain or chip over time and may need touch ups. Veneers take more planning and deliver a longer lasting, very natural result. If your teeth are crooked, Invisalign or whitening may belong in the plan before or instead of veneers, and we will tell you so. Either way it starts with a conversation about what you want to change. We examine your teeth and gums, make sure there are no cavities or gum concerns to handle first, take digital impressions for precise planning, and lay out your options honestly so you can decide with confidence.

Caring for your smile

Brush and floss as usual and keep up with your regular cleanings. Avoid biting hard objects like ice or pens, and wear a night guard if you grind your teeth, since grinding can chip both bonding and veneers. Cutting back on coffee, tea, and red wine helps bonding hold its color. One more thing worth knowing: whitening will not lighten veneers or bonding, so if you want a brighter smile overall, whiten first and we will match your new work to it.

Questions

about veneers and bonding.

  • Bonding uses a tooth colored material applied directly to your tooth for smaller repairs. Veneers are custom made shells that cover the front of the tooth for a longer lasting, more complete change.

  • With good care, veneers can last many years. Avoiding hard foods, not using your teeth as tools, and wearing a night guard if you grind all help.

  • Bonding often needs no numbing at all. For veneers we numb the area when needed so you stay comfortable throughout.

  • Veneers can improve the look of slightly crooked teeth. For more significant crowding or gaps, straightening with Invisalign first is usually the better path.

  • No. Whitening does not change the color of veneers or bonding, so if you want a brighter smile overall, whiten first and we will match your new work to it.

  • Cosmetic veneers are usually not covered. Bonding done to repair a chipped or damaged tooth is sometimes covered. We can check your benefits for you.

  • Most bonding is done in one visit. Veneers take more than one, since they are planned and made to fit your smile. We will give you the timeline at your consult.
